Bring your AI
Your assistant can answer travel questions about you and your friends — and, if you allow it, keep your trips up to date for you. It sees exactly what you see — nothing more.
★ Questions it can answer
- “Where am I travelling next month?”From your own trip board.
- “Which friends will be in New York in October?”From the trips your friends already share with you.
- “Do any trips cross paths with mine this fall?”From your matches — same place, same time, or close.
- “Which of my friends has been to Japan?”From your friends’ been maps.
- “Who knows Lisbon well?”From friends who say they know it — with their own note, like “lived there 5 years”.
- “Which countries do my friends want to visit?”From your friends’ want-to-go countries.
Just ask in plain words. Your assistant reads your board, your matches, and what your friends already share with you — never anyone else's.
★ Jobs it can do opt-in
- “Add my Tokyo trip, Oct 12–19”The moment you book it, it’s on your board — and matching runs right away.
- “Add Portugal and Peru to my want-to-go countries”Someday plans count: they match with friends who want to go too.
- “Mark Iceland as been”Your been map stays honest without you opening the site.
Adding is off by default. When you create a token, there’s a box that lets your assistant add things — trips, want-to-go countries, been countries — to your account only. Leave the box unticked and it can only ever look.
★ How to connect
- 1 · Create a tokenOn your account page. Leave it read-only (the default), or tick the box that lets it add things.
- 2 · Paste the endpointInto Claude, ChatGPT, or anything that speaks MCP — the standard way assistants plug into apps.
- 3 · Ask away“Who's in Tokyo when I am?” Your assistant does the looking-up.
Endpoint
https://areyouintown.com/api/mcp★ What it can never do
- Change anything without your say-so. Tokens start read-only. Adding is a box you tick when you create one — and adding only ever means adding, to your own account.
- See more than you can. It sees exactly what you see in the app. Your friends' trip privacy is enforced on the server, the same as in your browser.
- Message your friends. It talks to you and nobody else. A match is information for you — no friend gets nudged or put on the spot.
- Outlive your trust. Revoke the token on your account page and it goes dead instantly.
Two minutes to set up. Then just ask.
